Chapter 453 Filem Academy
"Filem Academy for Excellents..." William read off an archway above his head. It was the following morning, and the school day was just about to start.
Students between the ages of 15 and 25 traveled in their respective age groups and passed under the arches to enter the school grounds. A few bumped into William on the way, but they apologized with a slight bow and continued forward without making a scene.
When they passed through the arched gate, the students disappeared without a trace, their presence wiped away completely by either Magic or Array, or a combination of both. William watched for a long time, but he still couldn't tell.
"Are you here to attend or just creeping?" a voice sounded from behind, belonging to a young man with white hair wearing a suit.
William turned around slowly, using his 359-degree vision to inspect the man early. Judging by his attire and body posture, William guessed he had been confronted by either a teacher or the Principal.
"Do you have an entrance exam? I'd like to attend." William replied calmly.
"We do. Might I ask for your name, creeper?"
"I'm William, not a creeper." Will said flatly.
"Hello, William not a creeper. I'm Vice Principal Kenny." the young man extended his arm out for a handshake. His lips curled into a wide grin, finding his own joke hilarious.
"..." William didn't know what to say. He accepted Vice Principal Kenny's handshake, but the man gripped his hand so firmly that William couldn't retract it even after a long time had passed.
"It's nice to meet you, Excellent Cultivator William. Until you become a student, feel free to call me Senior." Kenny held his smile.
"Nice to meet you too, Senior... but can you please let go of my hand? It's starting to turn purple." William winced in pain as he spoke.
Kenny's grip wasn't causing any serious harm, but somehow the pain was bypassing the pain resistance from William's Mind Talent.
"Ah! Sorry!" Kenny retracted his hand immediately, but William caught a slight glimmer in his eye that suggested there was an ulterior motive.
He produced a badge that verified his identity as Filem Academy Staff, then asked, "Can you show me your Signature ID Card so I can verify your identity?"
Was he testing me? How much did he learn from that simple handshake? William was instantaneously more wary of Kenny, but the Vice Principal's Cultivation was too high, and he had no other way to gauge the man's strength.
"It's alright." William didn't want to pursue the matter. He pulled the card in question out of his Space Ring, and allowed Kenny to inspect it thoroughly until he was pleased.
Kenny nodded and changed the topic, "You said you wanted to enter Filem? We're actually holding an entrance exam today for the start of the next year. You're in luck. Take this and I'll add you to the list." a small portal opened next to him and shot out a spherical gem colored just like a mango.
Other than identifying a few imprinted Tier 6 Arrays that carried familiar Runes and sensing the unique aura of the Vice Principal, William couldn't deduce the functions of anything else.
He nodded and followed the Vice Principal through the arched gate. Just like the students before them, William felt an odd sensation before his presence was masked. At the same time, the various auras of the Filem Academy returned.
Looking directly behind him, William realized he couldn't sense anyone in Great Rouge anymore. He had seemingly passed through some kind of two-way door that would divide the school and Great Rouge into separate spaces.
"You probably didn't have anything like this in the Mortal Realms, did you?" Kenny asked with a smile, "We use Dimensional Portals based on our personal World Seeds to control an area with an almost Godlike authority.
From creating customized Magical Beasts to terraforming Continents, or even preventing death, we can do it all! Unless the Dimension collapses, the Rules of the Dimension will even revive the dead!"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Revive the dead?" William asked. The Guild Halls on Efretta had Arrays that would prevent certain types of death, but they only covered a small area and could only revive Cultivators below the Soul Formation Realm at most.
If they didn't take so long to create and could determine friend or foe, these Arrays would have been used in battle, but they were just too flawed. William worried that these were the same and couldn't be abused in such a way.
"That's right. Even dying of old age can be delayed. If an elderly woman with only six months left is brought into this dimension, her lifespan can be extended to almost a hundred more years. There are only a few other schools across the entire Plane that have the same capabilities.
The only thing you can't do inside Filem Academy is Cultivate. The Arrays won't stop you, but if you're caught Cultivating within the school grounds, you will be immediately expelled." Kenny warned.
"Why's that?" William wondered why such a restricting rule would be in place.
"Massive amounts of Mana have to be continuously sent into the Dimension to keep it running. With how many students Filem Academy has, everyone Cultivating at the same time would completely exhaust our Mana Reserves in only a few months."
William nodded in understanding. It seemed that Cultivating inside someone else's Dimension was the equivalent to stealing their Mana. If it was him, he'd make the same rule.
-Don't lie. Unless it could earn you more loot, you wouldn't even let anyone into your Dimension.
Well, you're already taking up space in my head or brain or whatever, why would I want to take care of anyone else? William replied with a light smirk.
"What are you smirking for? This is serious business, don't Cultivate." Kenny frowned.
-Are you calling me fat? At least I have a lot of space to stretch. Your head is empty.
I don't even know what you look like, how could I call you fat? William retorted.
"No, it was something else." he waved his hand in dismissal, to which Kenny nodded.
He continued to bicker back and forth with the System while simultaneously holding a conversation with Vice Principal Kenny, doing his best to manage his expression so Kenny didn't misunderstand.
They passed through a secondary pair of doors that led inside the school building, then Kenny gave William a mini tour while on their way to the examination room. Despite the fact that William had yet to pass the exam, Kenny explained the history of the school and talked about Principal Gusto the entire way.
"We're here." Kenny stood in front of an unassuming paneled wooden door. "I don't have time to tell you the full rules, so just use common sense and don't get into trouble."
William tried to see what was beyond with his Navigation Radar, but a System Message made him give up. When Kenny opened the door William stepped inside the room, the System Messages intensified.
